  • November Newsletter

    Dear Varieur Families,

I hope this newsletter finds you and your family healthy and well.  It is very hard for me to believe that it is already November.  I must be honest, I looked back at last year's newsletter to see what was happening in and around Varieur at this time.  Some things have changed, but not everything.

Please note the following days we have No School. November 3, 2020 as it is election day.

November 11, 2020 in observance of Veterans Day and Monday November 16, 2020 as it is a professional day for teachers .   The students are, however, distance learning on the professional day and lessons for them will be in the Google Classroom (11/16/20).

Progress Reports: This year SYWARD is the platform for progress updates.  Please know that this is a live gradebook.  You can go in at any time and see what work your child has completed and what work is missing.  For directions on how to get into SKYWARD and create your password please visit the Varieur website page.

Nightly Reading: In order for our students to be successful, we encourage them to read for 20 minutes a night.   There is a great deal of research to support how reading impacts their overall success during the instructional years.  Varieur students have always been strong readers.

Attendance: It is very important that your child is in their Google Classroom at 9:00am. This is where teachers take attendance, talk about the day, assignments that are being given etc.  Please know that all of us here at Varieur appreciate the time and effort you are putting in at home with your child.  We know these are not easy times with families juggling work and helping with school assignments and learning new platforms.

Please understand that when teachers are absent, they will leave work in the Google Classroom.  They will not be “live” that day and they will do their very best to communicate with the students when they will be out.

I would like to take this opportunity to wish you a very Happy Thanksgiving.

    Be safe and well.

    Ms. Boucher, M.Ed
